In den Anfängen der Fotografie war es unmöglich, weit entfernt von einer Dunkelkammer im Freien zu fotografieren, da man die Platte sofort entwickeln musste. Doch es gab später kleine mobile Dunkelkammern, die man auf einem Wagen oder Lasttier mitnehmen konnte. Abgesehen von den Wetterbedingungen und anderen Umständen war der Aufwand sehr groß und der Erfolg wahrscheinlich eher gering. Das Reisen mit den giftigen Chemikalien war auch nicht einfach und ungesund.

In the early days of photography, it was impossible to take a photo outdoors far away from a darkroom, because you had to develop the plate immediately. But then there were small mobile darkrooms that you could take with you on a wagon or pack animal. Apart from the weather conditions and other circumstances, the effort was very great and probably the success was rather small. And traveling around with the toxic chemicals wasn't very easy and unhealthy either
