Der Kanton Graubünden war dünn besiedelt und war von der Landwirtschaft geprägt. Der Tourismus in St. Moritz kam erst Ende des 19. Jahrhundert auf, Davos entwickelte sich ab 1870 zu einem internationalen Luftkurort. Es gab aber Carte de Visite Fotografen in einigen anderen sehr kleinen Ortschaften.

The canton of Graubünden was sparsely populated and dominated by agriculture. Tourism in St. Moritz only began at the end of the 19th century, and Davos developed into an international climatic health resort from 1870 onwards. However, there were Carte de Visite photographers in several other very small villages.
